  Dr. Beggs is a cardiothoracic surgeon specializing in diseases of the aorta and heart. He received his undergraduate degree from West Texas State University and graduated from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston. He completed his general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery residency at the Texas Heart Institute under the direction of Dr. Denton Cooley and at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Beggs has extensive experience performing minimally invasive surgery and is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Before coming to Penrose, he spent 13 years in private practice in Sarasota, Florida, where he performed over 4,000 cases.
