Cyndy Krening, RNC-OB, C-EFM, MS

Cyndy Krening, RNC-OB, C-EFM, MS

Nightingale Award winner Cyndy Krening, RN, Littleton Adventist Hospital (center), with Glenda Skaggs (director of women's and children's at LAH), and Paivi Halkola-Atwood (manager of labor and delivery at LAH).

Perinatal clinical nurse specialist, Littleton Adventist Hospital
Years in practice: 30

Cyndy's passion for both the science and the art of perinatal nursing is demonstrated in her involvement in the development of three new roles for perinatal nurses. She worked to expand flight nurse services by creating the high risk obstetrical flight nurse role. She worked with obstetrical nurses in a tertiary medical center to develop the role of the OB critical care nurse and opened two critical care beds on her perinatal unit. She also helped to develop the Perinatal Nurse Practitioner program, working collaboratively with Regis University and serving as adjunct faculty for the program.

While Cyndy has filled many perinatal nursing roles, educating and supporting nurses in the perinatal areas as well as assuring excellent, caring and compassionate patient care is Cyndy's love. She says, "I feel stretched to be the best I can be, and to nurture that in every nurse that I come in contact with. I have spent close to one thousand hours educating nursing audiences locally, regionally and nationally and delight in sharing the most current information with clarity and humor." She holds dear the opportunity to share one of the most intimate moments in a family's life - the birth of a child. She shares her feelings this way, "I don't want to ever forget how lucky I am to be a part of these exquisite moments in the circle of life."
