What You Need to Know About PPE in Our Hospitals

April 23, 2020

At Centura Health, we have always stood for top quality and safety, and we have amplified our efforts and processes to keep our incredible caregivers, physicians and communities safe during COVID-19. Your safety and well-being are our top priority, and we want you to feel comfortable coming into any one of our hospitals or clinics.

One way we protect ourselves is through the use of Personal Protective Equipment. If you visit one of our facilities, you will likely notice increased use of PPE by our caregivers and physicians. You will see a lot more masks, face shields, gloves and gowns than you’re used to. As a patient, you may also be asked to wear a mask and/or gown yourself, depending on your symptoms, the reason for your visit and/or the type of procedure being performed.

With so much attention on what health care workers are wearing, we wanted to provide some context on the PPE used in our care settings and show you what it might look like should you need to come to any one of our hospitals or visit a physician. Watch the video below to learn more about the different types of masks, face shields, gloves and gowns and how they help protect the patients, caregivers and physicians in our facilities.

Disclaimer: The PPE shown in this video was sourced from a supply of PPE that is used for training and/or does not meet usage requirements; therefore, it cannot be worn by our caregivers.
