Mission & Values
Sponsored by Catholic Health Initiatives and the Adventist Health System, Centura Health formed in 1996 as a faith-based, non-profit health network designed to manage and strengthen its hospitals and services. Our collective Values reflect the holistic care and wellness approach of the Adventists, along with the Catholic tradition of caring for the underserved.
Our Mission: To extend the healing ministry of Christ by caring for those who are ill and by nurturing the health of the people in our communities.
Our Seven Core Values: Compassion, Respect, Integrity, Spirituality, Stewardship, Imagination and Excellence
Powered by faith: With a legacy of faith-based care that has endured for well over a century, we recognize the vital role of spirituality for healing and overall well-being. Our associate population represents a diverse range of backgrounds, faiths and experiences – but we share a common belief to care for patients, their families and one another as we would want our own loved ones to be treated.
A supportive, enabling infrastructure: Centura Health’s culture is one of collaboration, honest feedback and the discovery of new ideas for continuous improvement. Our clinicians and providers deliver care that meets the unique physical, spiritual and emotional needs of each patient. Associates frequently cite how our mission and values support their unique purpose and ability to do incredible work. This is also evident in our patient satisfaction scores, quality metrics and awards.
Serve locally, connect globally: Giving back to our communities a privilege and a perpetuation of the good that surrounds us. Our associates touch lives both inside and outside of our walls through free health screenings, immunization fairs, health education classes and other planned outreach. Some volunteer their time and talent in remote places like Haiti, Rwanda, Nepal and Peru as part of our Global Health Initiatives (GHI) program . Because helping others the heart of what we do, Centura Health is a place where your personal mission will be valued and honored.
Creating an enduring future: In addition to incredible care that best serves patients and our communities, we’re positioned for success in today’s changing health care marketplace. Our strategic plan has revolutionized not just how we treat sickness, but how we enable wellness.
Top quality (and it shows): Because of our talented and mission-minded associates, we receive numerous awards and honors for care, quality outcomes and patient satisfaction across a variety of medical specialties, services and programs from organizations such as the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, The Leapfrog Group, HomeCare Elite, The Joint Commission, HealthStream Research, American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet Hospital Recognition Program, U.S. News & World Report and Healthgrades.

What to Expect After You Apply
Review your qualifications: Our talent acquisition team carefully reviews every online submission. Once you have submitted your online application, you will get an email confirming that your information was received. We evaluate each candidate’s educational background and work experience based on specific position requirements. If qualified, you can expect a preliminary phone interview from a recruiter. If your application does not meet the job requirements, a notification will be from our system that the qualifications did not meet the role requirements. Please don’t be discouraged by this as you may be qualified for other positions and/or be considered for future opportunities. Be sure to complete a quick interest profile using the Connect With Us feature in the online applicant system (centura.org/careers) to receive a weekly job alert for roles you may be qualified for.
Application status updates: Our online application system is designed to keep you informed throughout the hiring process. If you are wondering about the status of a position, please log into your job seeker account (centura.org/careers). If the position has been filled or cancelled, you also should see those status updates when reviewing your online job seeker account.
Phone interview: If selected for a phone interview, you will be contacted by a recruiter or hiring manager to discuss the job requirements and answer questions about your education, experience and work history. Following the phone interview, you may be selected for an in-person interview with the hiring manager.
Online assessments: Many applicants (depending on role) will be asked complete a 25-minute online assessment once the application is submitted. The science behind these professionally designed assessments help companies better understand the compatibility and alignment between applicants and organizations, and provide information that can be discussed during the interview. Assessment results will remain part of your applicant record (counting toward additional application submissions) for one year. There is no “pass or fail” – it’s just one more data point to help recruiters identify a role and department where individuals are most likely to experience success.
In-person interview: If selected to move forward, you’ll be scheduled to meet with a hiring manager. Centura Health uses behavioral-based interviewing techniques to understand how you handled/performed in past employment-related situations. Behavioral-based interviews generally ask for examples about your experience with regards to goal-setting, creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, decision-making, prioritizing, accomplishments, opportunities to improve, managing stress, etc. To help you prepare, reflect on (and write down your key thoughts) about actual examples of situations and work experiences you can speak to during the in-person interview. A variety of general interview resources can be found online (keyword search: “behavioral interviews” or “job interview tips”).
Reference checks: When being considered for a position, expect to provide the names and information of four (4) contacts for the online reference check. Please prepare your reference list (ensuring accurate email addresses) in advance since the employment application will include a reference section for you to enter their contact information. These could include supervisors, co-workers, charity volunteer coordinators/participants, teachers/professors, coaches, pastors, team members and any others who can attest to your experience, skills and/or character. You’ll want to let your contacts know in advance to look for an email request from our reference checking partner (Skill Survey) to encourage timely response.
Job offer & pre-employment process: If selected, Centura Health will extend a contingent employment offer to you. Details about your compensation and benefits will also be shared. For general information about our compensation practices and benefits, please refer to our Pay, Benefits and Total Well-being section (LINK). Associates who receive an offer will be required to undergo a background check, pre-employment physical screening, and test for drug and tobacco/nicotine use. The pre-employment physical determines if the candidate meets the physical requirements of the position. In most cases the physical will require bending, lifting, stretching, etc. If the physical requirements are not met, accommodations may be made in certain situations depending on the role.
Waiting for your background results to clear before taking steps to terminate work with a current employer is advised.
