Critical Care & Intensive Care Units

In the case of a serious illness and need for critical or intensive care, you can be confident in our care. With a highly skilled team of providers and state-of-the-art technology and monitoring systems, our hospitals provide comprehensive critical care services for those with life-threatening illness or injury throughout the region.

Critical Care or Intensive Care Units in our facilities include:

  • Patient-to-nurse ratios ranging from 1:1 to 3:1, depending on the severity of illness of the individual.
  • Private rooms with individual bathrooms, and seating areas or desks for family members. Immediate family members may be able to stay overnight in l chair beds located in each patient room to provide emotional support and comfort.
  • Palliative care teams consisting of doctors, nurses, chaplains and social workers to provide stress relief, increase communication, offer emotional and spiritual support, manage pain and increase quality of life.

We’re proud to offer highly skilled intensive care doctors, or “intensivists,” and intensive care nurses to care for our patients when they need us the most. Our multidisciplinary team includes experts in advanced cardiovascular care, trauma-trained surgeons, neurosurgeons, orthopedists, clinical pharmacists, respiratory therapists, physical, occupational and speech therapists, nutritionists and pulmonologists.

Critical care interdisciplinary teams make rounds to each patient daily, helping to ensure a unified approach to care and that every detail of the care plan is being followed. Our advanced computer systems allow for easier charting, notation of prescriptions and communication with the patient's doctor. That puts us in the best position to respond quickly and give our patients the full support they need.
