Wound Care

If you’re suffering from chronic wounds, the wound care experts at CommonSpirit Health can help you heal.

Wound Care Expertise

In the U.S., about 6.5 million individuals suffer from chronic wounds. Whether you have a wound that won’t heal, sores that are painful and persistent or surgical wounds that have become infected, we can help.

When wounds persist, a specialized approach is required for healing. Typically, a wound that doesn’t respond to normal medical care within 30 days is considered a problem or chronic wound. Associated with inadequate circulation, poorly functioning veins and immobility, non-healing wounds may lead to lower quality of life, amputations and potentially death if not treated properly.

With the state-of-the-art treatments and innovative equipment available at CommonSpirit Health, such as debridement (removing objects or damaged tissue from wounds), hyperbaric oxygen therapy (not available at all locations), advanced dressing selection and pressure-relieving devices, people with non-healing and chronic wounds have a place to turn.

Wound care centers across the CommonSpirit Health system offer a comprehensive approach to wound management, combining the latest clinical tools with time-tested healing approaches. Because each person we see is unique, we’ve brought together a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team to design and deliver individualized treatments.

Our teams include specialists in vascular medicine, infectious diseases, podiatry and plastic surgery as well as wound care professionals with expertise in dermatology, cardiovascular care, ostomy care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

Conditions we treat include sores, surgical wounds, burns, ulcers and much more. Our specialists perform thorough evaluations to determine why your wounds resist healing. Working with you, we’ll tailor a treatment plan with your needs in mind.

As part of our multidisciplinary approach, we use infectious-disease management, physical therapy, occupational therapy, laboratory evaluation, nutritional management, pain management, diabetes education, radiology testing and debridement to address total health. You are part of our wound care team, and together we can commit to managing your pain, reducing the risk of serious complications and accelerating healing.
