Centura Health And Goodland Regional Medical Center Enter Into Management Agreement
(CENTENNIAL, COLO and GOODLAND, KAN) Centura Health, the region’s health care leader, and Goodland Regional Medical Center (GRMC), announced today that they have entered into a management agreement, effective Sept. 1. The management agreement leverages the strengths of both organizations to provide residents of Goodland with improved access to clinical and operational services and resources to meet the community’s health needs and keep care local.
“We’re excited to expand our partnership with Goodland Regional Medical Center and collaborate on a sustainable solution to ensure care remains local for the residents of Goodland,” said Tom Gessel, senior vice president, operations and network development. “Our agreement further integrates our two organizations and provides the hospital with additional access to resources and services.”
Under the management agreement, the GRMC Board of Directors will retain its governance and authority over the hospital while Centura Health will provide the management and leadership expertise under the direction of a Centura Health employed chief executive officer. The GRMC Board of Directors will maintain control and ultimate authority over the hospital, including fiduciary responsibility.
“The decision has been contemplated and researched for many years,” said Greg Cure, GRMC chairman. “After weighing advantages and disadvantages, and acknowledging the rising cost of health care, the Board felt that Centura Health offered many benefits and met the needs for a successful future for GRMC. It also builds upon our relationship, which was first established in September 2011.”
The Centura Health employed chief executive officer will run the hospital operations on a day-to-day basis beginning Sept. 1. He/she will partner with the GRMC Board of Directors and leadership to identify areas where additional clinical and operational services, education and resources are needed to deliver optimal health value to the residents of Goodland and the surrounding communities.
