General Surgery

Robotic Surgery

General Surgery

Parker Adventist Hospital work with a number of surgeons who are certified in robotic-assisted surgery with the da Vinci Surgery system. General surgery provides procedures and treatment for abdominal conditions. Your digestive tract converts food into energy and nutrients to fuel your body. The digestive tract or system is made up of the liver, pancreas, gallbladder, and gastrointestinal tract (GI tract – stomach and intestines).

Is a condition in your digestive tract affecting your health and quality of life? When lifestyle changes, medicine or other treatments do not ease your symptoms, your doctor may suggest surgery and minimally invasive surgery can be done using traditional laparoscopy or robotic-assisted da Vinci Surgery system.

Parker Adventist Hospital provides da Vinci general surgery procedures which include, but are not limited to:

  • Bariatric Surgery: Gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy
  • Heller Myotomy: Surgery for patients with achalasia – swallowing disorder
  • Gastrectomy: Stomach cancer surgery
  • Hernia Repair
  • Cholecystectomy: Gallbladder surgery
  • Nissen Fundoplication: Acid reflux surgery
  • Pancreatectomy: Benign
  • Pancreatectomy: Cancer
Gynecologic Surgery

Robotic Surgery

Gynecologic Surgery

When medication and non-invasive procedures are unable to relieve symptoms, surgery remains the accepted and most effective treatment for a range of gynecologic conditions. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Cervical and uterine cancer
  • Uterine fibroids
  • Endometriosis
  • Uterine prolapse and menorrhagia
  • Excessive bleeding

Fortunately, there are minimally invasive surgical options available. Some gynecologic procedures enable surgeons to access the target anatomy using a vaginal approach, which may not require an external incision. But for complex hysterectomies and other gynecologic procedures, robot-assisted surgery may be the most effective, least invasive treatment option. Through tiny, 1-2 cm incisions, surgeons using the robot can operate with greater precision and control, minimizing the pain and risk associated with large incisions while increasing the likelihood of a fast recovery and excellent clinical outcomes.

For most patients, hysterectomy can offer numerous potential benefits over traditional approaches to vaginal, laparoscopic or open abdominal hysterectomy, particularly when performing more challenging procedures like radical hysterectomy for gynecologic cancer.

Potential benefits include:

  • Significantly less pain
  • Less blood loss
  • Fewer complications
  • Less scarring
  • A shorter hospital stay
  • A faster return to normal daily activities
