The Chest Pain Center Accreditation from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC) validates that Avista Adventist Hospital has demonstrated a higher level of expertise in assessing, diagnosing and caring for patients who may be experiencing a heart attack. The accreditation means Avista Hospital uses protocols developed by leading experts in cardiac care and has adopted the healthcare industry’s most successful practices. This advanced standard of care is aimed at reducing the time from onset of symptoms to diagnosis and treatment, and ensuring patients receive care during the critical window of time when the integrity of the heart muscle can be preserved.
Gold Seal of Approval as a Primary Stroke Center
Avista Adventist Hospital earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for certification as a Primary Stroke Center by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety. This advanced certification award recognizes Avista Adventist Hospital’s exceptional efforts to foster better outcomes for stroke care.
The Primary Stroke Center Certification is based on the recommendations for primary stroke centers published by the Brain Attack Coalition and the America Stroke Association’s statements and guidelines for stroke care.
2016 Women’s Choice Award for America’s Best Stroke Centers
Avista Adventist Hospital received the 2016 Women’s Choice Award for stroke care. The Women’s Choice Award seal is the only credential that integrates clinical excellence from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and consumer experience. In order to be eligible for this award, hospitals must be accredited by the Joint Commission as an Advanced Primary Care Stroke Center or an Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center.

The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) awarded Avista Lab the Endoscopy Unit Recognition Program Certificate of Recognition.
The recognition program is specifically dedicated to promoting quality in endoscopy in all settings in the United States. It honors endoscopy units that follow the ASGE guidelines on privileging, quality assurance, endoscope reprocessing and The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention infection control guidelines.

Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology
Avista Adventist Hospital holds the prestigious designation as a Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology (COEMIG) from the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) and Surgical Review Corporation. The COEMIG program is focused on improving the safety and quality of gynecologic patient care. Achieving COEMIG, places Avista as an international leader in minimally invasive gynecologic procedures. Compared to traditional surgery, patients who undergo minimally invasive procedures experience less pain, reduced blood loss, fewer complications and shorter hospital stays.
2016 Women’s Choice Award for America’s Best Hospitals for Obstetrics
The America’s Best Hospitals for Obstetrics scoring process is unique in that it is the only national list that is evidence-based and focuses on female patient satisfaction. Avista Adventist Hospital ranked above the national average for patient recommendations, as indicated by the data reported by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) surveys. Additional considerations included: having a NICU on-site, low rates of early elective deliveries (between 0-1%) as well as ranking above the national average for patient safety.
