South Denver Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners
There are only four hospitals in the metropolitan Denver area that have sexual assault nurse examiners. Littleton Adventist Hospital is proud to offer this to our community. A SANE is a registered nurse who has been specifically trained to provide comprehensive care to sexual violence victims. The SANE is trained to identify physical trauma, to document injuries, to collect evidence and maintain the chain of custody, and to provide necessary referrals. SANE’s provide support through advocacy and act as expert witnesses for prosecution, which increase the rate of prosecution of perpetrators. Our program focuses entirely on the patient, offering care and support to move from victim to survivor.
