Pediatric and Family Emergency Care
Littleton Adventist Hospital offers specialized Pediatric and Family Emergency Care in a dedicated, kid-friendly environment located within our Level II trauma emergency department.
Our 10-bed unit cares for patients from infant to 18-years-old. We have a wonderful staff with knowledge and expertise in caring for children with medical, surgical, neurological, respiratory, orthopedic and other problems. Our unit has the capability of caring for patients that require one-to-one nursing care as well. Additionally, we have a 2-bed Pediatric Intermediate Care Unit.
Parents are welcome to visit their children at any time but public visiting hours are from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. We provide a parent with one sleeping unit to stay overnight with their child.
Books and toys for various ages are available on the unit. Any toy taken into a patient room should be left in the room so our nursing staff can properly clean them before they go back into the play area.
We keep a library of children's movies for patients and families to use. Each patient room has a VCR/DVD for viewing the videos and a list of all available titles.
Patient and Family Education
It is our goal to empower you and your family with as much information on your child's illness, procedures, treatments, medications and care as possible. We have several different resources available to provide you with educational materials. Our staff is here to help you so ask as many questions as you like.
When your child is admitted into our unit our team will work with you, your doctor and your nurse to create a rounding plan. During this rounding we check on your child's well-being, comfort and pain.
Our nursing leadership team makes daily patient satisfaction rounds on our unit. They may come into the room and check with you on how things are going to see what we are doing well and if there is anything that we can do better.
Littleton Hospital has a S.H.A.R.E. program that provides our patients and families another way to offer suggestions, share a compliment or make a statement. You will find S.H.A.R.E. cards online or in your patient rooms and by the visitor elevators. Please fill them out and place them in the S.H.A.R.E. box located at the visitor elevators.
