Joy Hess is the Development Officer for Mercy Health Foundation. Joy’s educational background was originally in education but since then has gone on to work on her PhD in Public Policy and Administration and Non-Profit Management and Leadership.
Joy has been with the foundation for 20 years first serving on the Mercy Health Foundation board and then being hired for major gifts in 2004. Joy was at the inception of the planning and building of the new Mercy Regional Medical Center (MRMC). In 2004, once plans were in place and groundbreaking occurred at the new and present site of the hospital, Joy was part of the team that raised $11.5 million to help fund equipment needs and special projects for the new hospital. In 2009, Joy was part of the $3.4 million to build a comprehensive breast care center at Mercy. In 2012, Joy was in campaign with her team for Mercy Health Foundation to raise $5.6 million for a new hospice residence successfully reaching and surpassing each fundraising campaign goal.
In addition to the major campaigns that have taken place, Joy has been instrumental in raising money for all equipment needs, programs and services, including Hospice and charity care for Mercy. Joy has been part of grant writing, events, design of collateral materials and public relations and marketing for Mercy Health Foundation.
One of Joy’s proudest accomplishments while being with the foundation has been the long-standing relationships she has built in the community and surrounding communities with individuals and businesses.
Thank you to our Mercy Health Foundation Board members for their support to further the care Mercy Hospital provides to our community.
