Candlelight memorial service
(PUEBLO, COLO.) St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center will host a semi-annual memorial service on Thursday, April 27, beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the hospitals St. Therese Chapel to honor patients who have died at the hospital during the past six months. A reception with light refreshments will immediately follow the memorial service in the Bishops Conference Room located directly across from the chapel.
The service of live music, reflection, prayer and candle lighting has been happening for decades and is rooted in the compassion of St. Mary-Corwins faith-based identity. It brings together families from across the region at a time when they are not in immediate crisis and provides an opportunity for fellowship and for families to share stories among themselves that begins to heal the emotional and physical pain that comes with bereavement.
Because our service area is so large, its not unusual to have friends and families who come from the San Luis Valley, eastern Colorado, and even as far away as Henderson, Nevada to honor their loved one to move beyond grief and keep hope alive, said Rev. Linda Stetter, director of mission and spiritual care, St. Mary-Corwin. All of the families who attend express sincere gratitude and tell us the memorial service helps them leave with a measure of peace that they cant get any other way.
Families and friends who attend are encouraged to bring photos or other small mementos of their loved one to be placed on the altar.
