Centura Health and Logan County Health Services Enter Into Management Agreement

(CENTENNIAL, COLO. and OAKLEY, KAN.) Centura Health, the region’s health care leader, and Logan County Health Services (LCHS), announced today that they have entered into a management agreement, effective Sept. 1. The management agreement leverages the strengths of both organizations to provide residents of Oakley with improved access to clinical and operational services and resources to meet the community’s health needs and keep care local.

“We’ve had a strong partnership with Logan County Health Services since 2014, partnering together to ensure health care remains in the local community,” said Tom Gessel, Senior Vice President, Operations and Network Development, Centura Health. “Our agreement further integrates our two organizations and provides the system with additional access to resources and services.”

Under the management agreement, the LCHS Board of Directors will retain its governance and authority over the hospital while Centura Health will provide the management and leadership expertise under the direction of Mel Snow, the Chief Executive Officer at LCHS. The LCHS Board of Directors will maintain control and ultimate authority over the hospital, including fiduciary responsibility.

“Logan County Health Services remains firm in its commitment to the health care needs of Logan County,” said John Moorhous, LCHS Board Chairman. “Our growing partnership with Centura Health allows us to collaborate with Centura Health and its Affiliate Hospitals to better serve not only Logan County but our surrounding area as well.”

Within this expanded relationship, Centura Health, LCHS, Goodland Regional Medical Center and other regional facilities will collaborate together to improve access to quality care for residents of northwest Kansas. Gessel shared that “we see enhanced regional collaboration as a strategic priority, and will partner together to begin work on a broader vision of care delivery to improve health value to communities in the northwest Kansas region.”

The Board of Directors and Centura Health will jointly provide oversight and direction of the chief executive officer, who will run the hospital operations on a day-to-day basis beginning Sept. 1. He will partner with the LCHS Board of Directors and leadership to identify areas where additional clinical and operational services, education and resources are needed to deliver optimal health value to the residents of Oakley and the surrounding communities.
