Centura Health Names Peter D. Banko President and Chief Operating Officer
(ENGLEWOOD, COLO.) Centura Health has named Peter D. Banko, MHA, FACHE, president and chief operating officer, effective May 1. Gary S. Campbell, FACHE, will continue to serve as chief executive officer. Mr. Banko brings extensive health care executive experience to Centura Health and most recently served as senior vice president, group executive officer and chief integration officer of Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI).
"It's always exciting to welcome a new colleague, especially one with such a profound commitment to our Mission," Mr. Campbell said. "The decision to share leadership responsibilities for the largest health system in Colorado and western Kansas will help our associates to further collaborate with one another and with the communities we serve. I'm thrilled Peter is bringing his substantial abilities to our dynamic organization to support growing our ministry and empowering individuals to improve their health."
Added Mr. Banko: "I am really looking forward to joining a great team and a leading organization that has been built on a strong foundation of Christian mission and values. I am committed to providing tools and resources for our associates and physicians to be successful, and I will be accountable to our community and our sponsors for our performance and the care we provide."
At CHI, Mr. Banko oversaw operations for the Arkansas, eastern Ohio and Tennessee markets, and provided transitional leadership for the New Jersey, Pennsylvania and east Texas markets. He led enterprise efforts to assimilate the missions, visions, values and cultures, governance and leadership, strategic direction, and operational plans of new partners. Prior to joining CHI, Mr. Banko served for four years as chief operating officer and vice president of CHRISTUS Spohn Health System in Corpus Christi, Texas. He also served for three years as senior vice president for PhyAmerica Physician Group, Durham, N.C., a privately held, $1.5 billion health care organization that included a large primary care physician group and the nation's largest emergency medicine revenue cycle company.
