Centura Health Recognized with Prestigious HIMSS Stage 7 Award
(ENGLEWOOD, COLO.) Centura Health, the regions health care leader, announced today that 13 of its hospitals have been recognized by Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Analytics with its Stage 7 Award, making it the third largest health system nationally to have the most certified Stage 7 hospitals. Only 184 hospitals in the U.S. approximately 3.2 percent have completed all the necessary steps to operate in a paperless environment and represent best practices in implementing electronic medical records (EMR).
Consumers are demanding better outcomes, more convenience, increased access and affordable costs for their health care. Centura Health is on the forefront of evolving the health care delivery model to meet population health needs and will continue to advance its EMR environment to optimize health care value. As the regions leading health care provider, Centura Health leverages data to further employ best practices and clinical protocols to support delivery of evidence-based medicine, leading to improved health outcomes, patient safety and patient satisfaction.
HIMSS Analytics developed the EMR Adoption Model in 2005 as a methodology for evaluating the progress and impact of electronic medical record systems for hospitals. There are eight stages (0-7) that measure a hospitals implementation and utilization of information technology applications.
The 13 Centura Health hospitals designated with the HIMSS Stage 7 award include Avista Adventist Hospital, Castle Rock Adventist Hospital, Mercy Regional Medical Center, OrthoColorado Hospital, Parker Adventist Hospital, Penrose Hospital, Porter Adventist Hospital, St. Anthony Hospital, St. Anthony North Hospital, St. Anthony Summit Medical Center, St. Francis Medical Center, St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center and St. Thomas More Hospital.
- We dedicate enormous resources to employing standardized, evidence-based clinical protocols, monitoring outcomes throughout the network, and leveraging technology to advance patient care, said Sharon Kirby, chief nursing informatics officer, Centura Health. Receiving the HIMSS Stage 7 award validates our unwavering commitment to quality improvement and delivery of high-quality care to the communities we serve in Colorado and western Kansas.
