Kids Alive to Celebrate 15 Years of Serving Children of Parents with Cancer

Madelyn Chase, PhD, child psychologist, and Jeanne Currey, RN, MN, clinical nurse specialist for oncology support services at Porter Adventist and Littleton Adventist Hospitals, sought grant funding and financial support to co-found Kids Alive in 1995. Since then, the program has brought reassurance to approximately 500 families. Kids Alive has provided a safe and loving environment for children to express their feelings and to gain understanding, support and allies.

On Thursday, July 22, Kids Alive will host its first-ever reunion for the families that have been impacted by the organization over the past 15 years. Current and former participants and their families will have an opportunity to share their experiences and catch up with each other and with the staff and many volunteers that have been a part of the Heros Journey of Cancer."

The reunion will be held at the Hudson Gardens Event Center, 6115 S. Santa Fe Dr. in Littleton, Colo. Registration begins at 4:45 pm. There will be dinner provided, guest speakers, and reminiscing of the associations journey. The event will end at 7 p.m. Registration and entry fee is $10 per Kids Alive family. Donations are accepted and will be used to fund future services for other children.
