Local Veterans Honored for Armed Forces Day
The celebration will honor thirty-seven retired veterans, including six women, all representing different military branches. A color guard presentation will be led by Westminster High School Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) followed by a special coin ceremony led by five soldiers from Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). Residents from Porter Place and family members of the veterans will be in attendance to thank these local heroes for their service and dedication to our country.
The celebration will be held Friday, May 20 at Porter Place Retirement Community (1001 East Yale Ave., Denver) from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with the coin ceremony beginning at 4:10 p.m. Light refreshments will be served following the ceremony and veterans will be available for interviews with media.
Please contact Paige Leonard, Public Relations Manager to request an interview with a retired veteran. Read more about Armed Forces Day from the U.S. Department of Defense website.
