Mercy Again Named to 100 Great Community Hospitals List
(DURANGO, COLO.)For the second consecutive year,Mercy Regional Medical Center was recognized as one of "100 Great Community Hospitals by Becker's Hospital Review. Mercy, which is part of the Centura Health network, was one of only four Colorado hospitals that were recognized on the 2017Beckerslist.
According toBeckers, the hospitals included on the list are recognized for quality, patient satisfaction and overall excellence. They also play a key role in their communities as centerpieces for healthcare and are among the largest employers in their regions. Several of the hospitals, including Mercy, have introduced unique population health initiatives over the past few years.
The Becker's editorial team selected hospitals for inclusion based on rankings and awards from industry organizations such as the National Rural Health Association, iVantage Health Analytics, Truven Health Analytics, Healthgrades, CareChex, the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and the Leapfrog Group.
Last April, Mercy received two national distinctions in quality excellence from Healthgrades: the2017 Patient Safety Excellence Award and the2017 Outstanding Patient Experience Award. That month Mercy also received its tenth-consecutive A grade for patient safety from Leapfrog, and last December, Mercy was the only hospital in Colorado and in the Four Corners region to receive from Medicare a five-star rating for overall hospital quality.
Becker's,a leading publisher of business and legal news in the health care industry, has published a version of its list annually since 2011. This is the sixth year the list has included 100 hospitals. For the purposes of this list,Becker'sdefines a "community hospitals" as ones with fewer than 550 beds that have minimal teaching programs.
