Celebration to be held next Thursday
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., May 4, 2010- Namaste Alzheimers Center will celebrate 20 years of serving the Colorado Springs and surrounding communities on Thursday, May 13, 2010. A celebration event is planned from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Penrose House Garden Pavilion (1661 Mesa Ave., Colorado Springs) to recognize the caregivers, staff, residents and families that have been part of this special community. Gary Campbell, CEO of Centura Health and Erin Denholm, CEO of Centura Health at Home will both offer remarks and a lighting of the flame" ceremony will take place at the event.
Built in 1990, the community was uniquely designed to accommodate residents with different stages of Alzheimers and dementia, allowing residents to be grouped together depending on the severity of their disease. Four courts were built to accommodate a total of 64 residents, each with its own dining area, activities area, and sun room, with resident rooms lining the open activity areas. The center backs up to Cheyenne Mountain and has beautiful walking paths and ponds offering a tranquil environment for the residents. In 2009, Namaste Alzheimers Center served 84 residents and maintains a high occupancy rate. In 2002, the center was remodeled to accommodate more clients through an adult day program for those facing Alzheimers and dementia.
