Penrose-St. Francis CEO Leads Training Run

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) - In an effort to improve the health of the community, Penrose-St. Francis Health Services has partnered with Spree Racing to present the inaugural Colorado Springs Half Marathon and 5K on Sept. 28.

About the Race:
The Colorado Springs Half Marathon is a loop course beginning and ending at Acacia Park in downtown Colorado Springs. The course will showcase the city of Colorado Springs taking runners on Wood, Cascade and Platte Avenues, through America the Beautiful Park, Monument Valley Park, around the lake in Memorial Park, by the Olympic Training Center and through downtown. A 5K run/walk is available for runners who prefer a shorter distance. This inaugural race is quickly gaining attention from top runners as $5,000 in prize money will be split between the top male and female finishers.

The Training Plan:
Penrose-St. Francis and Spree Racing have aligned with Jack Quinns Running Club to help runners prepare for this race. Each Tuesday evening, in addition to the regular 5K training run, a longer training run will leave from Jack Quinns, helping runners build up their mileage for the 13.1 mile long race in Sept.
