During National Donate Life Month, Penrose-St. Francis and Donor Alliance work together to raise awareness for organ, eye and tissue donation and its lifesaving impact. We are proud to honor and celebrate those that have given the amazing gift of life after their deaths. Penrose-St. Francis collaborates with Donor Alliance to provide families who have lost a loved one with the opportunity to save and improve the lives of others through donation.

In 2015, 134 families in Colorado gave the gift of life through organ donation and 1,674 gave the lifesaving and healing gift of tissue donation. Just one donor can save up to eight lives through organ donation and save or heal more than 50 lives through eye and tissue donation. In Colorado and Wyoming alone, more than 2,700 people are on the waiting list for a lifesaving organ transplant and more than 120,000 are waiting nationwide. A new name is added to the national transplant waiting list every 10 minutes.
