Penrose-St. Francis Health Services Welcomes New Cardiothoracic Surgeon

Colorado Springs, Colo. - Penrose-St. Francis Health Services welcomes cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Martin Beggs, to the Centura Health family. Dr. Beggs joins Penrose Cardiothoracic Surgery after 12 years in private practice in Sarasota, Florida. He specializes in diseases of the heart and aorta. As a surgeon, he collaborates with each patients primary care physician and cardiologist to create a comprehensive care plan, focusing on the patients entire course of treatment, including pre- and postoperative care.

His expertise includes:

" Minimally invasive aortic valve replacement
" Bloodless and blood conserving cardiac surgery
" High risk coronary artery bypass
" Aortic aneurysm dissection repair
" Extensive experience with geriatric cardiac surgery patients

Dr. Beggs, Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston and completed his general surgery residency at University of Texas-Houston. He completed his cardiac training at Texas Heart Institute under Dr. Denton Cooley and his thoracic oncological training was done at MD Anderson.
