Peter D. Banko Named Centura Health President and Chief Executive Officer

(CENTENNIAL, COLO.) Centura Health, the region’s health care leader, has named Peter D. Banko, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective Sept. 1.

“Peter has forged strong relationships with our leaders and we will benefit greatly from his experience and energy for our Mission,” said Patricia Webb, Chair, Centura Health Governing Board. “His commitment to Christian health care, and passion for people and culture will support our caregivers in their dedicated work.”

Building upon the legacy of the $3.5 billion health system, Banko will support and inspire the organization’s deeply connected community of 21,000 caregivers across Colorado and western Kansas who are on a mission to redefine health and health care, one whole human and one healthy neighborhood at a time. His expertise and leadership will amplify Centura Health’s vibrant, youthful expansion through the delivery of consistent, predictable value for the communities served.

For the past 16 months, Banko has served as President and Chief Operating Officer at Centura Health. Prior to joining Centura Health, he spent nine years with one of Centura Health’s sponsors, Catholic Health Initiatives, in both national and market roles as Senior Vice President, Operations and Chief Integration Officer based in Englewood, Colo., responsible for ministries in the eastern and southeastern United States and partnership integration, and as President and Chief Executive Officer at CHI St. Vincent in Little Rock, Ark.

Banko is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Cornell University. He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and the AHA/Health Forum Creating Healthier Communities Program. He and his wife, Elizabeth, live in Sedalia, Colo. and they have four children – Daniel (22), Lauren (17), Zachary (16), and Luke (10).

Centura Health recognized Banko at a Commissioning to Leadership ceremony on Aug. 29. Honoring the history and traditions of its founding sponsors, Adventist Health System and Catholic Health Initiatives, the Commissioning to Leadership ceremony recognized and blessed Banko as he assumes his new role.
