Porter Adventist Hospital Provides Additional Reporting to State for One Year
(DENVER, COLO.) Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) has placed a condition on Porter Adventist Hospital’s license beginning September 1, 2018 for a 12-month period. The condition is that Porter Adventist Hospital provide additional reports to CDPHE on the performance of its sterilization process of surgical instruments.
As an outcome of the CDPHE investigation in February of 2018, these reports will allow CDPHE to confirm that Porter Adventist Hospital continues to meet all sterilization process standards.
It is important to note: this decision is not due to a new sterilization event found by the CDPHE.
Most recently, the CDPHE was onsite at Porter from Monday, July 23 through Thursday, July 26, 2018 to conduct a Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Condition of Participation (COP) follow-up survey in response to earlier findings in February 2018. In an exit meeting, CDPHE cleared Porter of all deficiencies and declared no further follow-ups necessary.
All current health care services, surgeries and procedures will continue at Porter Adventist Hospital without interruption.
“We anticipated that CDPHE would require additional monitoring,” said Patty Howell, MD, chief medical officer. “As a hospital committed to implementing top processes for patients, we remain steadfast in collaboration with CDPHE and plan to meet all regulatory requests and requirements.”
