Robert Underwood Named 100 Hospital

(PUEBLO, COLO.)St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center announced today that Robert M. Underwood, MD, MHCDS, FAAEM, chief medical officer, has been listed as one of the top 100 Hospital and Health System CMOs to Know, by Beckers Hospital Review. Underwood has been recognized for his instrumental role in providing the leadership, strategic direction and overall operational management of quality, physician services and medical staff administration.

Underwood has served St. Mary-Corwin since September 2015, and comes to us after serving as director of clinical transformation and chief medical informatics officer at Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg, Va. He also served as medical director for Sentaras regional population health initiative in the Shenandoah Valley.

Underwood earned his bachelors degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point, a doctor of medicine from the University of South Carolina, completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Wake Forest University, and has a masters degree in Health Care Delivery Science from Dartmouth College. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine.
