SMC Cardiac Rehab Receives Natl Accreditation

(PUEBLO, COLO.) St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center announced today that its cardiac rehabilitation program has once again earned certification from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). AACVPR accredited cardiac rehabilitation programs assist patients in improving recovery times and quality of life while implementing exercise, education, counseling, and support not only for patients, but for their families as well.

St. Mary-Corwins cardiac rehabilitation program has been certified since 2010, and is the only AACVPR certified cardiac rehabilitation program in Pueblo. The program provides outstanding medical procedures including stents, bypass and valve surgeries. This program works to meet rigorous requirements including upholding current Individual Treatment Plans (ITPs), as well as demonstrating positive outcomes in clinical procedures, behavioral health, and other services.

The AACVPR is a multidisciplinary professional association that serves to reduce morbidity, mortality, and disabilities from cardiovascular and pulmonary disease through education, prevention, rehabilitation, and research and disease management. AACVPR-certified programs are recognized as leaders in the field of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation because they offer the most advanced practices available. AACVPR Program Certification is valid for three years.
