St. Anthony Hospital Gears Up for Move Weekend

Patient Relocation Planned in Anticipation of June 20 Grand Opening of Newest Denver-area Hospital

When: Friday, June 17
The move commences at 7 a.m. with the first patient being transferred

Scheduled media briefings:
8 a.m. - St. Anthony Central, 4231 W. 16th Avenue, Denver
3 p.m. - The new St. Anthony Hospital, 11600 W. 2nd Place, Lakewood
near the intersection of Union Blvd. and Alameda Ave.

Where: All media opportunities, unless otherwise indicated, will take place at the following media areas at the Denver and Lakewood hospital locations:

St. Anthony Central - Denver location
Media Staging Area: The grassy area just west of the main entrance at
W. 16th Ave. and Raleigh Street.
Media should park on Stuart Street. Please meet the media representative near the Chapel across from the hospitals main entrance.

St. Anthony Hospital - NEW Lakewood location
Media Staging Area: The walk in Emergency parking area on the south side of the building near Healing Way off Routt Street.
Designated media parking will be clearly identified.

Directions: West 6th Ave. (US-6) to Union Blvd. Turn left on Union to Second Place and follow to Routt St. Turn right on Routt St. to Healing Way. Turn right into parking area.

Who: Ray Mencini, M.D., Interim President & CEO, will lead the media briefing and be available for questions during both scheduled briefings.

Interviews with additional members of the leadership team also are available upon request.

Details: St. Anthony Hospital will open its new 560,000-square-foot facility in Lakewood on Monday, June 20. With 119 years of service already well documented, the new location will allow St. Anthony Hospital to offer 222 private inpatient rooms and 14 surgical suites, a more efficient and comfortable emergency department, two new medical office plazas on campus and room for future expansion if needed. The hospitals legendary Level I Trauma Services also will get a boost from new technology and dedicated space, while Flight For Life Colorado will make the Lakewood facility its headquarters.

The Emergency Department at the current St. Anthony Central Hospital will close permanently at midnight on Thursday, June 16. As of 12:01 a.m. on Friday, June 17, all emergency patients should be directed to the new St. Anthony Hospital.
