St. Thomas More Medical Office Building Groundbreaking Ceremony Set for Aug. 16
(CANON CITY, COLO.) St. Thomas More Hospital (STM) invites the community to attend its medical office building (MOB) groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, Aug. 16 at 10:30 a.m. on the hospital campus located at 1338 Phay Ave. Guests will hear from members of the project team as well as hospital and St. Thomas More Physician Group representatives. Light hors doeuvres will be served in the hospitals community room following the ceremony. The event is free and open to the public.
STM recently announced that after several years of planning, it will construct a multi-specialty MOB on the hospital campus in partnership with Centura Health and The Boldt Company (Boldt). Over the past few months, the project team has determined the layout of the space and what services and amenities will be offered in the MOB. Below is a digital rendering of the building that will connect to the current Outpatient Rehabilitation Center.
"This is such an exciting time for all of us here at St. Thomas More and for our community," said Sheri Trahern, Chief Executive Officer at STM. I hope that many in the community will attend our groundbreaking event to support the project and hear from our speakers about how this will drastically improve health care services in our community.
The MOB will allow STM to increase access to health care and the overall patient experience for residents of Fremont County in an innovative, state-of-the-art facility. After approximately a year and several months of construction, we will host a grand opening in Fall of 2017.
We believe that health care consumers in the communities we serve will prefer to seek care locally at the various physician clinics that will be conveniently located within the medical office building, added Trahern. The MOB will also improve our community perception. Having the hospital, outpatient rehabilitation center, outpatient lab services and physician clinics all on one convenient, state-of-the-art health campus is a huge benefit for health care consumers.
STM is pleased to work with Boldt and RTA Architects (RTA) on this project. They have been involved in many of the hospitals expansion and renovation projects such as newly re-designed Birth Center and C-Section suite, as well as the Medical/Surgical nursing.
Boldt could not be more grateful to be a part of St. Thomas More and Centura Healths strategic plan to provide a convenient, integrated outpatient health care facility in one location for Fremont County. Boldt has collaborated with Centura Health in the past and understands their overall commitment to keeping the communities they serve healthy and out of the hospital; this is a mission we are proud to play a role in. As this facility is developed and constructed, we will have many partners from the community playing a central role in making this vision a reality. Bringing these partners together in the coming months to create a one-of-a-kind community cornerstone, will allow us to create something to be proud of, said Jake Garro of The Boldt Company Development Group.
St. Thomas More Physician Group providers are currently housed in multiple locations on Phay Ave., Yale Pl., Sells Ave. and Ohio Ave. The majority of those clinics Orthopedics (complete with an X-ray suite), Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatric Health Services and OB/GYN services will relocate to the MOB. This will dramatically improve collaboration amongst the clinics. Patients, visitors, physicians and associates will enjoy the new healing, welcoming environment that lends itself to improved patient flow and comfortable working conditions. It will also increase efficiency with practice operations.
The CLS outpatient draw center that is currently housed at 1336 Bauer Lane will relocate to the MOB. Specialty clinic spaces for specialists who visit our community on a part-time basis will also be in the MOB. Final amenities include a small coffee shop/caf to accommodate MOB patients, visitors and staff that will offer both indoor and outdoor patio seating.
Physician recruitment continues to be a focus for our leadership team, added Trahern. Our research has shown that having a medical office building will enhance our recruitment efforts in both primary and specialty care. A state-of-the-art facility, ample clinic space and a favorable patient flow will lend itself to being solid selling points for attracting new physicians to our community, as well as retaining those who are here already.
The MOB will enhance STMs efforts of developing a full-service Colorado Health Neighborhood in Fremont County. This neighborhood approach encourages people to take care of themselves on a continual basis, not just when sick or injured. The MOB will make it convenient to get important check-ups and screenings, thereby promoting early detection and managing - or even preventing - significant health issues.
