Stroke Prevention Lunch and Learn offered at St. Catherine Hospital

(GARDEN CITY, KAS.)St. Catherine Hospital is hosting a lunch and learn on stroke awareness on Wednesday, May 20th at noon in Classroom A of the hospital, 401 E. Spruce. The presentation will be given by Stroke Coordinator, Brittani Varela, RN.

This event is free and open to anyone wishing to learn more about stroke prevention and detection. Participants are welcome to bring their own lunch or purchase lunch in the hospital cafeteria.

SCH participates in a multi-state stroke network dedicated to improving stroke care and is the first Joint Commission accredited primary stroke center between Wichita and Colorado Springs. Knowing the signs and symptoms of a stroke is important; on average, someone suffers a stroke every 40 seconds; someone dies of a stroke every four minutes; and 795,000 people suffer a new or recurrent stroke each year.
