Unique items featured at St. Roses Heartland Cancer Center auction

September 26, 2013

Tickets are still available for the event, which is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Club at Stoneridge.

Dr. Dan Witt and Brian Hanzlick will guide the photo safari at Cheyenne Bottoms; this auction item also includes accommodations at the Zoller Loft in Hoisington for up to six people.

Other live-auction items will include a University of Kansas mens basketball that has been autographed by the team; two round-trip tickets on Southwest Airlines; a white-gold cross necklace designed by Dawson Jewelers; and a Coach Ocelot handbag.

In addition, the United States flag that was flown in Iraq in honor of the 2007 HCC auction continues to be an annual revolving auction item.

The silent auction will offer a wide assortment of original artwork, restaurant gift certificates, handmade quilts, hand tools, garden supplies, and visits from Santa.

A unique collection of baskets also will be available, said Mark Mingenback, St. Rose Ambulatory & Surgery Center director of marketing. St. Rose associates, including those from Golden Belt Home Health & Hospice and HCC, are providing the baskets.

We deeply appreciate the communitys support of this special event, Mingenback said. Many local and area businesses and individuals have contributed auction items and money.

During the last nine years, Mingenback added, our generous community has donated more than $442,000 to directly help local cancer patients. We trust their generosity will continue at this years fundraising auction.

Tickets are $35 each, which includes heavy hors doeuvres, the silent and live auctions, and a singing performance by Melanie Ryan.
