Welcome to the Penrose St. Francis Health Services Hospital Magnet Re-designation site! Our online Magnet designation document is designed to be easy to read and navigate using a Web browser, (IE 9+ Recommended) and follows the same conventions and standards found on the World Wide Web.
To sign into the Designation Application site, click on the following link:
If the original hyperlink is not working the entire web address is as follows: http://www.psfmagnet.org/
Navigation and Structure
The website utilizes a simple, 5 tab horizontal Menu Bar for navigation, with one tab for each major section. When you click on a tab, you will be taken to a menu, with a listing of the pages contained in that tab section. In addition to this Instruction guide, the navigation in the top right corner of the page provides links to Additional Information such as the Table of Contents, and Magnet Stories. (The Magnet Stories placed in this section are to honor all those who submitted stories. We were not able to use all of these in the document, but wanted to give honor to all associates who submitted stories, by making them available on the website.)
Browser Back and Forward buttons
Your Browser's Back and Forward buttons will take you to the previous or next page in your browsing history, respectively. The website can be searched by entering a keyword or words in the Search box to quickly locate where that word is used throughout the Magnet document.
Links (or hyperlinks) are used throughout the document to connect to indexed evidence, another section in the document, or to another website on the internet. The links will be blue and underlined (previously visited links are purple). Click on the link and it will open a separate window with the evidence. To return to the page you were reading, close the window by selecting the in the top right corner of the box. Many of the graphics may open to a larger version when clicked.
IE 9+ Required
The document is best viewed with Google Chrome, or IE 9+. Some elements of the document may display differently in other browsers, but the raw content of the document will not be affected. Also, many of the appendix documents are Microsoft Office files and Internet Explorer supports opening Office files natively within the browser. Internet Explorer version 9 or above is recommended.

Adobe Acrobat Reader
Most of the attachments on this website are provided in MS Word, MS Excel, or Adobe PDF format. The browser window is divided into three sections. The top is the toolbar. The left-hand section, or pane, is the Navigation pane. The larger, right-hand section is the Content pane. The buttons on the toolbar determine what displays in the Navigation pane. The default is the Table of Contents.
Table of Contents
The table of contents consists of folders and topics. It is divided into seven main folders. Five of them correspond to the main Magnet criteria, and two more contain easy links to the reference documents and the appendices. The folders contain all of the questions and their supporting documents. To view any question or its supporting documents, simply click the desired link. Use your mouse wheel or scroll button to move through a question or other document and your Back button to view pages you recently viewed.
Reference documents and Appendices are linked from within the questions and are also collected in the table of contents. If you are using Internet Explorer (recommended), when you click on an Office 5 document link, it will open up within your browser. If you are using another browser, you will have the option to open the document in its original application or to save it, depending on your configuration. PDF documents will open in any browser.
If you have any difficulty opening Power Point presentations, you may have a pop-up blocker program activated on your computer. Disable any programs that may impede your viewing and allow blocked content to be displayed.
We hope you enjoy reading our document!
