About Michael Ross, MD, PhD

Growing up in Colorado Springs, Dr. Ross attended Colorado State University for his undergraduate degree. A general interest in the medical field led him to medical research during his undergraduate training and four years at the National Institute of Health in Maryland studying the pathogenesis of HIV following his graduation from Colorado State University. He then enrolled in a combined M.D. and Ph.D. program at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. While in training, Dr. Ross focused his studies on nephrology as this specialty best combined his interests. With his move into nephrology, he transitioned his HIV research to include the viruses' correlation with kidney disease, and published his Ph.D. thesis on HIV-associated nephropathy. Dr. Ross completed his internship and residency in internal medicine and fellowship in nephrology at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School. He served on the medical school faculty at Harvard while continuing his career in academic medicine. He chose to return home to Colorado Springs and join Pikes Peak Nephrology Associates practice in 2012. Dr. Ross brings exceptional knowledge and understanding of kidney disease to the Pikes Peak Nephrology team. He has been honored with numerous prestigious awards.
