The center provides advanced, specialized care and infusion therapy (including chemotherapy, intravenous hydration, antibiotic treatment infusions, blood transfusions, and pain management) in a comfortable and convenient environment.

The center has the space and the necessary technology to integrate holistic care with the patient’s family, primary care doctor, pharmacist, nurse navigators, oncologists, and chaplain in a way that is not usually done in other infusion centers.

Currently, the hundreds of patients that are diagnosed with cancer each year in Summit and neighboring counties must access infusion care by traveling to Vail or Denver, a route that is treacherous in the winter and often requires someone to drive them as patients are often too sick to drive themselves. Additionally, infusion therapies can take up to 8 hours making for an exhausting, costly, and time-consuming experience. An infusion center attached to the hospital allows patients in Summit County and neighboring counties to remain close to home and age in place.

The space focuses on providing a healing environment with warm colors, wood, and a stone fireplace while looking out over Lake Dillon and Buffalo Mountain. Patients have a nourishment area for snacks and beverages for both themselves and their visitors and they will receive blanket warmers while they sit in comfortable recliners during treatment.

The space includes 10 exam rooms that are used to host a mix of specialists to provide specialty care that otherwise has not been available to Summit county residents in the past. These specialists may include eye specialists, aesthetic plastics, and allergists to name a few.
