Volunteers are a key part of the Centura Health LINKS team and help to provide information and assistance to seniors and their family members about Medicare, Medicare Part D, and other public benefits available to seniors and Medicare Beneficiaries in the state of Colorado. In fiscal year 2016, our volunteers donated 3,700 hours to LINKS helping to make it possible for us provide programs and services at no cost to our clients.
Volunteering is a great way to spend your free time. At LINKS, we offer volunteer opportunities that not only provide educational opportunities and learning experiences for our volunteers, but allow our volunteers to spend their time giving back to and enriching the lives of our community. Our volunteer opportunities vary from assisting with administrative work, to outreach and networking, to providing Medicare counseling.

Become a certified State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) counselor and be part of the largest SHIP office in the state. LINKS’ SHIP program focuses on providing Medicare assistance and counseling to 14 different counties across Colorado. Our SHIP counselors help Medicare beneficiaries, their family, friends, and caregivers understand their Medicare benefits and options through one-on-one counseling, community presentations, and outreach. All volunteers must complete a robust 3-day SHIP training and exam before obtaining their certification. In addition to the initial SHIP training, LINKS offers its volunteers many ongoing opportunities for additional training and learning so that you can stay up to date with senior health care.
The ideal candidate is comfortable learning new, complex systems and working with a wide variety of people. Prior experience with Medicare is not required as over time volunteers have the opportunity to become experts on Medicare-related issues through training and on-site experience. If you have a passion for helping others and want to see real-time outcomes to your work then a position with Centura Health LINKS is the volunteer option for you.
