  • Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are at the heart of HealthSET work

They help our clients by greeting them at a clinic, assessing their vitals, arranging for further resources, or by simply visiting with them. The compassion shown by our volunteers makes a tremendous difference in our clients’ lives.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at HealthSET

We have many opportunities to get involved and make a difference in the lives of Denver's elderly. HealthSET is in need of nurse and intake volunteers who can attend clinics to provide wellness checks and assist with clinic flow. We ask volunteers to commit to at least one 2-hour clinic per month, depending on their availability and our need, and that they make a 6 month commitment to HealthSET (we are flexible, of course, but looking for long-term volunteers).

If volunteering with HealthSET suits your interests and availability please complete the volunteer application packet and mail or email application to the address below.

  • Make a Donation

    You make it possible

Thanks to the generosity of Centura Health, who provides in-kind support for our rent and many of our overhead expenses, the ability to utilize donated space in senior high-rises, and the commitment and generosity of our volunteers, we are able to operate the Health Promotion Clinics with very low costs.

Your donation, no matter how great or small, directly impacts our clients. Because of you, HealthSET is able to carry on and provide vital healthcare services to Denver’s low-income seniors.

If you are a current donor, we hope you know that your gifts to HealthSET are quite literally saving lives. If you have not yet given to HealthSET, please consider joining us in this work. Our most vulnerable seniors should have the opportunity to live their final decades with as much comfort and dignity as possible, regardless of their income. No matter how small or large the gifts, all are needed and appreciated.

    Financial contributions

    • Mail your financial contributions to:

    • Make an online donation
    • Does your company match charitable contributions? You can find out more at matching contribution or by checking with your human resources department. Matching gifts are an easy way to make sure your gift has double the impact.

HealthSET is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, EIN# 84-1102943. Your contribution is tax-deductible as allowed by law.

  • Friendly Visits Program

With the changing weather comes a more isolating season for some of our clients.

Winter's snow and cold can make it difficult to get around and the holidays can be a reminder of the friends and family that may not be with them. We have been running our Friendly Visits (formally Adopt an Elder) program the past several years to help combat this loneliness and bring a little joy during this vulnerable time of year.

However, our capacity to manage and grow the Friendly Visits program is limited due to its success and our focus on our Health Promotion Clinics. Over the past year we have learned of other organizations already excelling at this essential work such as the Volunteers of America (VOA) and their Baskets of Joy program. We will be taking a hiatus from the Friendly Visits program this year and are referring our clients and volunteers to Volunteers of America. For more information on their program or to sign up to volunteer, visit Volunteers of America website.

We will continue to practice our compassion and care for our clients this holiday season through our clinics and advocacy work.  And of course, if you have visited a client in the past that you would like to reach out to again this year let me know and I can reconnect you.

Thank you for all your service to our clients in years past and for understanding about this change.  We feel it’s the best way to continue to serve our clients’ needs during this vulnerable time of year with the limited resources we have. The VOA is an expert at this (they’ve been running the Baskets of Joy program for 26 years), and we know our clients will be well taken care of. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.
