September 1, 2022

Patrick Sharp to assume role on October 3, 2022

Centura Health, the region’s leading health system, is pleased to announce Patrick Sharp, MBA, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer for Penrose Hospital, St. Francis Hospital and St. Francis Hospital - Interquest. Sharp will join our 132-year legacy of compassionately caring for the Colorado Springs community and beyond on October 3, 2022.

Sharp, who is on a mission to lead and inspire others to flourish in a balanced life through faith, integrity, accountability, and the pursuit of knowledge, has faithfully served Mercy Hospital, our sister hospital in Durango.

During his time as CEO, he enhanced access to quality care for the Four Corners region through community partnerships, provider recruitment, and expanded medical services and physician alignment via an ambulatory surgery center set to break ground this fall. In addition, Sharp implemented the Surgical Services Executive Committee, a physician-led team charged with overseeing the OR’s operational, strategic and financial performance.

As CEO of Centura’s two existing hospitals and the orthopedic specialty hospital now under construction, Sharp’s leadership in Colorado Springs will be instrumental in guiding and growing our healing ministry in a rapidly expanding community.

“I look forward to building the future of health care in such a diverse and dynamic community – a community that has experienced the high quality, compassionate care Centura has provided since the 1880s,” Sharp said. “I have witnessed the compassion, kindness and commitment to public good through the caregivers at Mercy Hospital and I know those same qualities are what make Penrose and St. Francis such a comforting place to our friends and neighbors.”

Prior to joining Mercy Hospital, Sharp served as President & CEO of Fairview Range Regional Medical Center in Hibbing, MN, where he was responsible for the leadership, strategic planning and operation of the hospital, as well as primary and specialty care clinics and home health and hospice services.

He received a Bachelor of Science in chemistry and a Master of Business Administration from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, MN.
