Centura Health’s Southwest Kansas hospitals appeal for community’s support

(GARDEN CITY, KAN.) The COVID-19 pandemic has impactfully touched communities all across southwest Kansas and our care teams at Centura Health’s Bob Wilson and St. Catherine hospitals have responded with compassion and courage to meet the needs of our patients, our neighbors and each other.

Centura Health hospitals, Bob Wilson in Ulysses and St. Catherine in Garden City, and our clinics across southwest Kansas continue to follow COVID-19 protocols from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and our local county agencies and partners.

Across southwest Kansas, we are seeing an increase in the prevalence of COVID-19 across our communities. Our incredible physicians, nurses, nurses' assistants, technicians and therapists are fully committed to meeting the health and well-being needs of every patient, and we need the support of our communities to ensure we slow and stop the spread of COVID-19.

The best way to prevent illness is to minimize your exposure to the virus, which is why we must continue to be vigilant in following safety precautions such as mask-wearing, social distancing protocols and practicing good hand hygiene.

  • Wear a mask at all times – especially when indoors and around other people.
  • Maintain social distancing – keep at least six feet of safe distance from others.
  • Hand hygiene is critical – wash your hands before and after handling food, entering and leaving a facility, or interacting with people.
  • Stay home when sick, especially if you experience any symptoms such as:
    • fever (temperature >100 degrees)
    • headache
    • chills
    • sore throat
    • cough
    • shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
    • fatigue
    • muscle or body aches
    • new loss of taste or smell
    • congestion or runny nose
    • nausea or vomiting
    • diarrhea

Our focus has been and will continue to be the health and safety of our patients, neighbors and caregivers, to ensure we have the resources and support needed to support the health and well-being of our communities.
