About Ewell Nelson, MD

E. Lee Nelson, MD, believes that open communication is the best approach to patient care. By partnering with his patients, Dr. Nelson can help them to understand their test results and the treatment options available. Together they can find a solution that is best for them and their health goals.

Dr. Nelson believes that patients need a neurosurgeon that is both competent and compassionate. These attributes motivate him to strive to develop innovative nonsurgical and surgical treatments. While sometimes a solution may be surgery, often there are other conservative approaches. Minimally invasive spine surgery is an example of advanced care that offers patients many benefits, such as less time in the hospital and a faster recovery time. Each day, Dr. Nelson renews his commitment to excellence and continuous improvement for his patients that have entrusted their care with him.

Dr. Nelson earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. Also, at Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Nelson completed his internship and residency training. Dr. Nelson is board-certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS).
