About Geoffrey Doner, MD

As a Colorado native, Dr. Geoffrey Doner grew up with a passion for anything and everything that kept him active outdoors. He grew up downhill skiing, hiking, camping and mountain biking in the Rocky Mountains. He even took his passion for the outdoors one step further by attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, learning skills that still come in handy today. Living this type of Colorado-lifestyle fueled Dr. Doner’s deep-rooted desire to help others by channeling his variety of passions into the field of sports medicine.

Dr. Doner is a proud graduate with distiction of the University of Colorado at Boulder with degrees in Biology and Communication. Go Buffs! He went on to graduate from the University of Colorado Medical School, receiving the distinguished William Winters award as the top medical student in the orthopedic department. He then completed his orthopedic residency at the University of New York at Stony Brook. Upon finishing residency, he then went on to pursue additional sports medicine training. He attended a one-year fellowship at Cincinnati Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center, during which time Dr. Doner had the opportunity to care for the Cincinnati Bengals Football Team. To further refine his craft, Dr. Doner continued his studies by completing several more months of additional hip arthroscopy training.

After traveling the country, there was nowhere Dr. Doner would rather begin his career than by serving in his own backyard. Since beginning his practice in Colorado Springs in 2013, Dr. Doner has had the distinct honor of serving as the team doctor for the USA Junior Basketball team on two trips and the Colorado Switchbacks FC. He also gets his fill of the Friday Night Lights by volunteering his time as the team doctor for two local high school football teams. His experience and hard work led to his board certification in orthopedic surgery in 2015.

While his specialties include fracture care and arthroscopy of the shoulder, knee and hip, Dr. Doner prides himself on taking his practice beyond his superior surgical skills. Actually creating a relationship with the patient, not just listening but hearing their concerns and discussing the best solution to their ailments in a way patients can understand are just a few of the ways Dr. Doner distinguishes himself from the rest.

He understands what it means to Coloradoans to be active, and is determined to ensure that no injury will stand between his patients and their goal of being back on the ski slopes, hiking trails or wherever their active lives are taking them.
