About Kane Anderson, MD

Kane Anderson, MD, is a fellowship-trained board certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in the treatment of shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand conditions. He is also trained in general orthopedic surgery. Dr. Anderson is the only surgeon in the Four Corners region that is a member of American Society for Surgery of the Hand and is committed to dedicated expertise and additional training in hand and upper extremity surgery. He was mentored by both orthopedic and plastic surgeons during his training, including two of the past presidents of their respective surgical societies.

Dr. Anderson specializes in minimally invasive procedures for many conditions. He performs over 100 endoscopic carpal tunnel surgeries per year. He also performs minimally invasive Dupuytren's release known as percutaneous needle aponeurotomy, often in the office for the patient's convenience.

Dr. Anderson pursued his general orthopedic surgery residency training at Dartmouth Medical Center in Hanover, New Hampshire. In addition to his surgical training, he completed a master’s degree at the Dartmouth Institute, focusing on the quality improvement of health care. There, he authored several scientific articles and participated in the creation of a multi-disciplinary care pathway for patients with osteoporotic fractures and hand injuries. In addition, he received the Alma Hass Milham Award for ethical and humane patient care, the OREF Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery grant for fostering critical analysis of orthopedic literature, a National Institute for Health grant to support his master’s degree training, and was a nominee for the Dartmouth resident teaching award.

Before moving to Durango, Dr. Anderson completed specialized training in hand, upper extremity and microvascular surgery at the University of Washington and Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Harborview is the only Level 1 Trauma referral center for a five state region, where he performed over 800 upper extremity and microvascular procedures.

Dr. Anderson is a member of the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons and has been selected to be a member of the American Orthopaedic Association Emerging Leaders Forum. He is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, having acquired special additional certification (Subspecialty Certificate in Surgery of the Hand).

Dr. Anderson and his wife, Dr. Mareca Pallister, an obstetrician/gynecologist, live in Durango and enjoy spending time with their children in the outdoors, hiking, biking, skiing and fishing.

Ratings

Ratings are calculated via patient surveys collected from the Medical Practice survey from Press Ganey using the Mean score for each of the four questions shown below. Star scores are determined by dividing the mean score by 20 so a 100% Mean score divided into 5ths results in a 5 star rating.
