Monica Tincopa, MD, MSc, believes in working together with her patients to create a team and value-based care plan that provides the most effective and meaningful treatment for each individual patient. Her desire is to provide empathetic and informed recommendations that empower patients to manage their liver disease. Dr. Tincopa treats non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), viral hepatitis (Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) and Hepatitis B Virus (HBV), autoimmune liver disease (Autoimmune hepatitis, primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC)), alcohol-related liver disease, cirrhosis of any type, liver transplant and women’s health issues. She also performs EGD, colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, variceal banding, liver biopsy and obesity management.
Dr. Tincopa completed her medical school and internal medicine residency at Johns Hopkins. She completed her gastroenterology and transplant hepatology fellowships at the University of Michigan (UM) in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Dr. Tincopa also completed her Master’s in Health and Healthcare Research at UM and is board certified in Obesity Medicine. Her clinical expertise is in gastroenterology and general and transplant hepatology. Within hepatology she has a focus in NAFLD and NASH.
When not helping patients, Dr. Tincopa loves spending time with her children and their dog. She enjoys being active including hiking, running and swimming.
