American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines® Quality Achievement Award Stroke Silver Plus Target Stroke Elite Plus Honor Roll
Longmont United Hospital earned the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines® Quality Achievement Award in 2019: Stroke Silver Plus Target Stroke Elite Plus Honor Roll. The award recognizes Longmont United Hospital’s commitment to success in implementing a higher standard of stroke care by ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence. These measures include aggressive use of medications, such as tPA (a “clot-busting drug”), antithrombotics, anticoagulation therapy, DVT prophylaxis, cholesterol reducing drugs and smoking cessation, all aimed at reducing complications and improving the lives of stroke patients.
Hospitals receiving this award have:
- Reached an aggressive goal of treating patients with 85 percent or higher compliance to core standard levels of care as outlined by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association® for one calendar year.
- Demonstrated 75 percent compliance to seven out of 10 stroke quality measures during the 12-month period.
- 75% or more of patients received Intravenous Thrombolytic Therapy (clot-busting drug) in 60 minutes or less.
- 50% or more of stroke patients received Intravenous Thrombolytic Therapy (clot-busting drug) within 45 minutes.
Primary Stroke Center
Longmont United Hospital has held The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Heart-Check mark for Advanced Certification for Primary Stroke Centers. This advanced certification, developed in collaboration with the American Heart Association/ American Stroke Association, programs that make exceptional efforts to foster better outcomes and will provide long-term success in improving outcomes for stroke patients.
National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers
Longmont United Hospital’s Breast Care Center was awarded a three-year designation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons. The NAPBC is the gold standard in breast accreditations and this seal of approval is only given to those centers that have committed to providing the highest level of quality breast care. During the survey process, the center undergoes a rigorous evaluation and review of their performance, while demonstrating compliance with standards established by the NAPBC for treating women who are diagnosed with the full spectrum of breast disease.
Planetree Global Person - Centered Innovation Award - 2017
Longmont United Hospital received the 2017 Planetree Global Person-Centered Innovation Award in recognition of “Planetree Walking Rounds”, an innovative program we implemented to improve the patient experience and strengthen our person centered culture. This program was designed to engage and empower staff, utilizing their valuable insight to continually enhance the way we deliver care for our patients, families, staff and community. We are proud of this versatile program and continue to expand its applications.
American College of Radiology Accredited Facility for Radiation Oncology
Longmont United Hospital has been awarded a three-year accreditation in radiation oncology, for the Hope Cancer Care Center’s outstanding patient care, as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR). Radiation oncology (radiation therapy) is the careful use of high-energy radiation to treat cancer. The ACR is the nation’s oldest and most widely accepted radiation oncology accrediting body. The ACR seal of accreditation represents the highest level of quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting specific practice guidelines and technical standards developed by ACR after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified radiation oncologists and medical physicists who are experts in the field.
The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval – Orthopedic Care
The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Certification for Total Hip, Total Shoulder and Total Knee Replacement recognizes Longmont United Hospital’s exceptional orthopedic care. This advanced certification demonstrates the hospital’s compliance with advanced disease-specific care standards and total hip and total knee replacement requirements, including orthopedic consultation, and pre-operative, intraoperative and post-surgical orthopedic surgeon follow-up care.
Silver Beacon Award for Excellence™
One of our most honorable distinctions was from The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN), awarding our Intensive Care Unit with the Silver Beacon Award for Excellence™. This award is only granted to facilities who are dedicated to utilizing continuous learning and effective systems to achieve optimal patient care.
