    Primary Care / Family Medicine

  • Anticoagulation Clinic

    If you are taking an anticoagulant (blood thinner) medication named Coumadin (warfarin), the St. Thomas More Anticoagulation Clinic can help you manage your medication therapy. The program is run by a pharmacist who will oversee your medication treatment plan and will send progress notes to your primary care physician after each clinic visit.

    Anticoagulants are very important for your health, but if mismanaged they can cause serious, disabling and even life-threatening bleeding or clotting problems.

    Services include:

    • Warfarin monitoring and dose adjustment
    • Same day INR blood test results
    • Quick 30-minute appointments with no long wait times
    • One-on-one counseling with education about diet and drug interactions with your warfarin

  • Emergency Care

    The St. Thomas More Emergency Department receives more than 17,000 visits each year. It is designated a Level IV trauma care unit and is accessible by Flight For Life helicopter. It is staffed 24 hours a day by skilled physicians, mid-level practitioners and nurses, who also work in partnership with nearby hospitals in Pueblo, Colorado Springs and Denver when necessary to transport patients requiring a higher level of care.

  • Outpatient Services

    Diabetes & Nutrition Counseling

    St. Thomas More Hospital offers diabetic education and nutrition counseling. These classes are especially important if you have been newly diagnosed with diabetes. Classes are covered by most insurances and Medicare/Medicaid.

    We offer a support group for people who have been diagnosed with diabetes or pre-diabetes, as well as their family members and caregivers. This group provides support as you learn how to manage the disease and prevent complications. We feature guest speakers to provide education on a variety of topics, such as nutrition and fitness specialists from St. Thomas More Hospital.

    Outpatient Infusion Center

    The St. Thomas More Infusion Center in Cañon City is located on the main floor of the hospital in the same day surgery infusion area. Our patients enjoy private rooms with reclining chairs for the patient and additional chairs for family or friends. Stretchers are provided for patients with special needs for comfort. Each private room also features a flat-screen television, kindly donated by the St. Thomas More Health Foundation.

    Outpatient Therapy

    St. Thomas More Outpatient Therapy and Rehabilitation Services is dedicated to a mission of service to our community. We have staffed our facility with highly-qualified professional therapists, therapy assistants and technicians to serve your physical, occupational, speech and cardiac therapy needs.

    Sleep Disorders Center

    The St. Thomas More Hospital Sleep Disorders Center is conveniently located on the second floor of the hospital. Since sleep diagnostic studies are usually done overnight, we've designed the rooms to help put our patients at ease - they are beautifully appointed and feature a television, VCR, and private bathroom with shower.     The Sleep Disorders program is medically overseen by a pulmonologist and the St. Thomas More Hospital Sleep Disorders staff. Our registered polysomnogram technologists are skilled at making patients as comfortable as possible by answering any questions they may have, and making sure the room meets their needs.

    Wound Care & Ostomy Care Center

    The Outpatient Wound and Ostomy Care Center is designed to provide wound and ostomy treatment and education services for medically stable and independent out-patients. Such patients may suffer from acute or chronic wounds including diabetic ulcers, venous ulcers, non-healing or infected surgical wounds, pressure ulcers, Lymphedema, 1st and 2nd degree burns, and other traumatic wounds. We also provide pre-surgical education and marking for scheduled surgeries resulting in an ostomy, as well as continuing education for patients with fecal and urinary diversion such as ostomies, ileostomies and urostomies, and associated peri-stomal skin complications and irritations.

    Our surgery team is proud to offer the Single Incision Laparoscopy (SILS) procedure which provides the option for a more discreet single incision procedure, as opposed to the more traditional multiple incision site procedures.
