About Shelly Asbee, MD

Dr. Shelly Asbee was born and raised in southwest Iowa. She has practiced obstetrics and gynecology in North Carolina and joined Academy Women’s Healthcare in July 2012. Dr. Asbee considers it an honor to care for women through all phased of life, adolescence through menopause. Dr. Asbee completed her undergraduate work at The University of Iowa (1999) and her medical degree at The University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine (2004). She completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC (2008). She is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Asbee enjoys using her God-given talents and abilities to provide quality care to women. She feels blessed to be able to empower women at all stage of life to optimize their health and overall well-being. Dr. Asbee is particularly skilled at preventive care, minimally invasive surgery, adolescent gynecology, and general obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Asbee and her family—husband Greg, daughter Finnli, son Joseph, and black lab Josie enjoy being active including hiking and camping. Dr. Asbee is very passionate about fitness and enjoys volleyball, basketball, running, and adventure races. She also prioritizes being involved in her church, Woodmen Heights, as an AWANA leader and community group host and involved in the community as the volunteer medical director of Life Network and a basketball coach through the YMCA.
