Cancer Support

From diagnosis to survivorship, cancer has a profound effect on your life and the lives of your loved ones.

A battle with cancer requires more than just exceptional care for your physical health; it requires great emotional and spiritual strength, and having support is essential. That’s why CommonSpirit Health offers a wide range of support services to help you cope with your cancer experience, from diagnosis to treatment and beyond.

Support groups offer a chance to share your journey and learn from others who are dealing with similar circumstances that others may not understand. We offer a wide variety of support groups, including groups for specific cancers, groups designed for all cancer survivors and groups dedicated to caregivers.

Our genetic counselors help perform genetic counseling and testing. These experts can advise you about your own risks as well as those of other family members. For those who have cancer, genetic counseling and testing may determine if you’re at risk for another type of medical complication or another type of cancer in the future. Genetic counselors help you adapt, cope and determine appropriate steps based on your genetic test results.

As a part of the CommonSpirit cancer care team, our nurse navigators play an important role in helping guide you throughout your treatment process. These specially trained nurses help explain and coordinate each step of the care process, giving you a great resource to stay informed and prepared during your treatment.

Cancer treatments can often cause side effects such as nausea, indigestion and difficulty swallowing. These side effects can make getting the right nutrition challenging during a time when maintaining your strength is crucial. This is where the help of the registered dietitians at our cancer centers can be invaluable. These nutrition experts work with the rest of your care team to create nutritional plans customized around your particular needs and challenges.

Palliative care programs specialize in providing relief of pain, symptoms and stress no matter the diagnosis. Our team of caring professionals offers coordinated care to address physical, emotional and spiritual needs. This care can be provided along with other medical treatment.
