  • ACLS / PALS Courses

    The Penrose-St Francis EMS Institute ACLS / PALS instructor and refresher courses.

  • EMS Instructor Course Series

    The Colorado Instructor Course series was developed through the Colorado Dept. of Public Health and Environment Emergency Medical and Trauma Services Branch.

    This course is for any allied healthcare professional with PreHospital knowledge and experience, interested in teaching PreHospital-based content at either the initial EMS education level or for PreHospital continuing education offerings

    Class Times: 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m each day

    Cost: $50 Skills Instructor Only / $100 Skills + Primary Instructor

  • Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Course

    The Penrose-St Francis EMS Institute offers Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) training. This course provides the student with the core knowledge and skills to function in the capacity of an EMR arriving at the scene of a medical/trauma emergency and provide care until advanced emergency responders arrive.

    Students who successfully complete this program are eligible to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) written EMR certification test.

    BLS CPR is a prerequisite and will be taught and included in the cost of the EMR Course.

  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Course

    The Penrose-St Francis EMS Institute offers an Emergency Medical Technician class (EMT). This course provides the core knowledge and skills to function in the capacity of an EMT arriving on the scene of a medical/trauma emergency and provide care until advanced emergency responders arrive.

    Students who successfully complete this program are eligible to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) written EMT certification test.

  • EKG Certification

    Basic EKG is designed to teach the concepts and recognition of basic rhythms to EMS providers with no prior EKG knowledge. The student will learn to recognize and understand normal and abnormal EKG patterns. The student will practice recognition and analysis of EKG strips as the student gains understanding of common EKG rhythms.

  • IV Course

    The Penrose-St Francis EMS Institute offers Emergency Medical Technician – Intravenous Therapy and Mediation Administration training (EMT-IV). This course provides the EMT with core knowledge and skills to function in the capacity of an EMT-IV on the scene of a medical/trauma emergency.

  • Paramedic Course

    The Paramedic Course is an accredited paramedic program through St. Anthony PreHospital Services. Graduates are eligible to apply for certification with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians and the State of Colorado.

    Course Begins: April 1, 2019
    Class Times: 
    Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8 a.m. to noon or 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. (Students will be assigned a session.)
    Location: Penrose EMS Institute
    Cost: $7545 + Fees
